Packed with oats, this Upton Bircher muesli is a nutritious way of starting the day. Whole oats are rich in antioxidants and contain plenty of fiber. They are also known to lower cholesterol levels. Greek yogurt adds protein and probiotics, creating a balanced waking up meal. This hearty breakfast provides whole grains, at least two servings of fruit, a dairy serving and has no added sugars. The protein of yogurt coupled with all the fiber-filled foods will keep you full until lunch. Recipe courtesy of Appetite for Health.

INGREDIENTS

SERVES 4

  • 2 cups Quaker Oats
  • 3/4 cup Dried Fruit
  • 1/2 cup Evaporated Milk
  • 1/4 cup Coconut, Flakes
  • 1/2 cup Greek Yogurt
  • 1/2 cup Berry Medley, Whole, Freshly Frozen, Unsweetened

DIRECTIONS

1 Combine oats with all other ingredients and stir to ensure that the oats are coated with milk. Put in an airtight container and refrigerate for 8-12 hours.
2 In the morning, combine 1/2 to 1 cup of the muesli mix with 1/4 -1/2 cup nonfat yogurt and 1/2 cup of fresh berries and then sprinkle with nuts, if desired.
