The great detective Sherlock Holmes drinks his whiskey with water in the first Arthur Conan Doyle book featuring Holmes, 'A Study in Scarlet.'
This is a fancy whiskey and water – the flavor of the alcohol still definitely shines through the tea, so be sure to pick one you enjoy drinking: peaty Scotch whiskeys work beautifully.
INGREDIENTS
SERVES 2
-
1 serving Lapsang Souchong Tea
-
2 oz Boiled Water
-
2 tbsp Golden Caster Sugar
-
4 oz whiskey
-
1 fruit lemon
DIRECTIONS
1
Brew the tea for four minutes, then add the sugar, stirring to dissolve it in the hot tea. Strain the brewed tea into a mug, and chill in the fridge.
2
Divide the whiskey between two glasses. Slice two strips of zest off the lemon, then juice it and add two teaspoons of juice to the tea.
3
Stir, then divide the tea between the whiskey glasses.
4
Stir again, add the zest, and serve.
