For those looking to cut down on sugar and calories, the easy homemade recipe can be adjusted for simple swap-outs such as using non-fat milk or an alternative milk such as almond or soy. Swap the milk chocolate out with lower-fat dark chocolate and then add the stevia separately to taste. You could try using two bars of stevia-based chocolate bars like those from Lily's Sweets instead of the unsweetened dark chocolate and stevia powder.

INGREDIENTS

SERVES 4

  • 4 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa
  • 160 g Dark Chocolate
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 tsp Stevia Powder

DIRECTIONS

1 Over low heat, warm the milk until small bubbles form but before the milk begins boiling. Be sure to not scald the milk or it won't have the best flavor.
2 Then add salt, cocoa, chocolate, and stir in until melted and combined.
3 Remove from the heat and serve.
