Chia Strawberry Spread

Chia seeds form a gel when exposed to water, which makes them useful ingredients in foods that require thickeners. This "spread" can easily be swapped out for jelly or jam in a recipe although it will not be as thick.



  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 3/4 cup water


1 Add all ingredients to a sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
2 Once you reach a boil, turn down the heat to medium heat so the mixture doesn't spill or splatter over the pot.
3 Stir the berry mixture constantly so that it doesn't burn.
4 Once the mixture has reduced in size and has begun to thicken, remove from the heat.
5 Place spread mixture in fridge and allow it to cool completely.
