With just a handful of fresh ingredients like tomatillos, serrano chiles, onion, cilantro, garlic, and avocados, you won’t believe how easy it is to make traditional Mexican salsa at home.
INGREDIENTS
SERVES 6
-
1 medium Tomatillos, raw
-
1 cup Water, tap, well
-
34 g Serrano Peppers, Chiles Serranos
-
3/4 cup Onion, Diced White
-
1 clove garlic
-
1/4 cup fresh cilantro
-
1 cup avocado
DIRECTIONS
1
Bring tomatillos to a boil in medium saucepan over high heat. Cover and reduce heat to low.
2
Let simmer for 5-to-7 minutes just until the tomatillos are cooked through. Remove from heat; let cool completely.
3
Remove cooked tomatillos with a slotted spoon. Puree the cooled tomatillos with the serrano chiles, onion, garlic, cilantro, and avocado until smooth.
4
Pour in ¼ cup of the water the tomatillos were cooked in if the sauce is too thick.
5
Pour salsa into a bowl; season with coarse salt to taste.
